prof isn't up to date with how things currently evolve with society. A student group will be in contact with the board regarding oppressive commentary said by her. We need to work towards only working with professors who work from an anti oppressive and anti racist frame work. Very sad to see people like her in 2026. Outdated.

Barely taught anything and relied on guest speakers to teach her course. Easy marker and easy assignments, though.

I was in her NNS 101 class and it was by far not my favourite. Nice prof with a bubbly personality but her lectures relied mostly on guest speakers. Attendance was necessary as we had to write reflections on the guest speakers every week. Lectures were boring most of the times. However, she is very generous when it comes to marking.

It's shocking how inept the former chair of Ryerson Journalism is regarding teaching an ethics of journalism class. For those taking this mandatory course, prepare for a semester rife with technical issues and an inability to teach at a university level. At one point a guest asked her to stop interrupting her own class. Interesting course.

- Didn't know how to use tech, lost minutes of time and some hearing from mic issues - Spread misinformation (the class is about the laws relating to journalism so ironic much?) - Rude to students and antagonized them - Relied solely on guest speakers and non-original content

Worst professor I have ever had. Spread misinformation, not communicative with TAs and lack of instruction and direction to teach this class.

If you can take this class with someone else, do it. This class was run hybrid and Janice doesn't understand technology at all. She spread misinformation on current events due to lack of research and care. Most of the assignments in this class felt pointless. The tutorial with a TA is where you learn the most. She doesn't communicate with TAs.

She seems nice but is not tech-savvy (even though lectures were online). The quizzes were worded weirdly and had many technical issues on her end. The participation marks were unnecessary, a drag to do and so extra. The assignments were pretty unnecessary too, to be honest.
