Had him for the spring semester of MEC511 and I must say he's a really nice professor! He's caring and answers questions, his lectures contain review sessions with homework that prepares you pretty nicely for the midterm, quiz and final exam. GO TO ALL OF THE LECTURES (Or if not, get the review questions!!!!) I couldn't understate this anymore.
Tooraj is a nice guy. His lectures can be boring but he covers a lot of ground and drops a lot of hints about the exams. His only issue is that he's very tough with grading. The midterm for this course (Spring 2026) was fair but the final exam was very difficult. Regardless, you should be fine if you attend all his lectures and do the problems.
Overall a good prof, you should def go to lectures as questions from lectures shows up on the midterm. He's decent at explaining the concepts you might need to do some review on your own to fully understand it. Midterm and final was fair, if you go to all his lectures and pay attention you'll get at least a B.
His exams are fair if you go to all lectures. He does many important in class examples that are not posted online, so attending lectures is important. If you cannot attend every class, then I wouldnt recommend him. This is for the spring semester.
Midterms and exams are usually curved, but its best to stay near the class average to succeed. Prof is nice and questions similar to lectures appear on the midterm. Final exam is harder but you should use the posted exam to practice, since its almost similar. Course should be taken in the regular semester, unless Tooraj is teaching in the spring.
Exams are hard and makeups are harder, but everything gets curved to the moon.
This prof has been teaching this class for over 25 years and he truly knows his stuff. If you don't understand a concept, he explains it perfectly and repeats until you get it. He gives many examples and hints to prepare students for exams as he cares for his student's success. Attending lectures and doing practice problems is highly recommended.
Teaches you properly on how to do the questions and you can expect anything he covered to be on the exams.
Professor Yousefi's lectures cover many examples which aid greatly in understanding the material, so it is important to attend them. He goes step by step to ensure the class is not falling behind. He hands out the thermodynamics tables during lecture and taught the class how to use them which is very important for the second half of the course.
Decent prof. Gives good example problems and shows how to solve any problem from each chapter. Exam q's are very similar to in-class examples, sometimes even exact.
